How to build a *great* corporation? How to change a *good* company to a *great* one? In this book, successful companies, though they are not so many in the world, are analyzed and many ideas are derived from the analyses.

As this book focuses on companies, ideas from the analyses are applicable to person.
A corporation and a person have a lot in common; they have a goal, they have to compete with rivals to survive, they have many inner resources which have to be controlled efficiently.

This is an assignment book in a reading club: "Outputting studying club, Tokyo".
# Many study meetings, such as the reading club, are hot among business persons in Japan.

Ideas I learned from this book are:
- "good" and "great" differ.
- the highest level manager has to be: modest but daring
- face reality
- focus on a point satisfies three necessary conditions. Try to find the point if you don't have any idea.
- stick closely to the rules
- consider technologies before bringing them in.
- create a positive growth cycle.



原題は"Good To Great"。これは「良質」と「偉大」には大きな差があるといった意味が含まれています。

  • 会社=自分全体
  • 経営者=自我
  • 社員=自分の能力

  • 「良好は偉大の敵」
  • 第五水準(最高水準)の指導者の特徴:
    • 謙虚だが意志は強く、控えめだが大胆。
    • なすべきことはきちんと実行する。
    • 成功の要因は、外部または運だと考える。失敗の要因は、内部にあると考える。

  • 厳しい現実を直視する。
  • 3つの性質を兼ね備えたところをピンポイントで狙う (針鼠の概念)。なければ、徹底的に探す。
    • 世界一になれる可能性のある分野を、徹底的に追求する。
    • やることに対する情熱が、必要不可欠。
    • 経済的原動力ももちろん必要。

  • 規律の文化
  • 針鼠の概念はきちんと守る。裏返すと、「ピンポイント」ではないことはやらない。→やめるべきリストを作る
    • 枠組みの中に、自由と規律がある。
  • 技術は、必要かどうかの判断をしなければならない。
  • 好循環を作り出さなければならない。
